I think you're reffering to me here.

You are aware that the times quoted are for *compiling* XFree86, something that
will benefit greatly from HT, and not actually *running* XFree86?

How much time do your production systems spend compiling?  How much time do
they spend in IO? How much time do they spend on non-threaded apps? Why do you
associate processor optimisations exclusively with gentoo? Why is processor
optimisation way down on my list of things to consider when choosing a distro
(as if you cannot do this when appropiate when running any other distro)?

Incidentally, are you *still* not running Gentoo on any production systems?
What with the amazing performance gains that can only be squeezed out of gentoo
systems (gentoo systems have exclusivity over compiling critical components,
you understand), surely it's burning money not to be running such a magnificent
production worthy OS which makes your hard-disks and RAM faster.
