[ILUG] Spamassassin + Bayes

Spamassassin (with Bayes) doesn't seem to be doing a great job
on one system I use.
I looked at <http://spamassassin.apache.org/tests_2_6x.html>
(as advised in my .spamassassin/user_prefs)
to see how the scores were arrived at,
and it lists a vast number of choices,
each choice being followed by
DEFAULT SCORES (local, net, with bayes, with bayes+net).

My question is: what do these 4 numbers mean?
What exactly is "net"?

It's amazing to me that having collected this vast array of data
it does not occur to the documentor to explain what it means.
