[ILUG] Open Source driver doesn't work

Highpoint RAID controllers (at least any I've encountered so far, and 
the price point of that one doesn't make me believe it's any different) 
are not real RAID controllers as they do not have their own CPUs so the 
RAID work is actually done on the host CPU. Given that, you might as 
well use Linux MD RAID which has been more thoroughly used and debugged 
under Linux than Highpoint's software.

The person who bought the 3ware card did so on the recommendation of 
several people here (myself included) who find the 3ware controllers to 
be very solid, and supported by a Linux open source driver which is 
tried and tested.
