Isn't something like a mailing list in fact the epitome of what a
national LUG should be doing in any event? If one looks at the User
Group HOWTO at http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/User-Group-HOWTO.html (I know
I know) you'll find that the main aspects of what that document feels
a LUG should be are pretty well catered for.
The one area where ILUG is *seemingly* deficient would be in advocacy.
Even with that caveat Linux and Linux vendors are receiving quite good
press in Ireland lately, so the pressure for activist advocacy is
lessened.
When you are delaing with a national grouping, the whole
coffee-morning installfests becomes uquite difficult, and would be
extremely difficult to manage. Socialising similarly so, although the
sheer concentration on Pints Pints Pints can be quite frustrating for
some people.
So what, precisely, do the doomsayers want from the LUG?
