You do not need internal DNS to access the interweb.
Go to www.your-ISP.ie and check the setings for what they require.
Since the windows box works, check its nameservers and use those in your
linux box.
make sure you have
nameserver ipaddress
in /etc/resolve.conf and then restart networking for the craic.
All will be well.
