  | If you handle your mail server, chances are you could trace it back in
  | the logs ?

 a) I don't follow;
 b) I don't _think_ I do (I have no understanding of
     how e-mail works): I fetchmail(1) from my ISPs
     POP3 to my local SMTP (`postfix'); and
 c) the last thing I want to do (unless the e-mail
     can be proven valid) is reply to it, since I
     don't want to confirm to slimeballs (spammers)
     it has a valid e-address.

 nonetheless, I did have a quick look in the mail logs I
 know about, and nothing interesting seemed to be there.
 thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't thought of it.

cheers!
