The SuSE configuration tool, Yast, used to be released under a non-GPL
license.
I believe that this was one of the reasons why the distribution wasn't
supposed to be copied.
However, I think that after Novell bought SuSE they released Yast under
GPL.
As far as I know there are still some applications that are in the boxed
version that aren't in the version on their ftp site.
I think some of these are demos of commercial applications.
