Well, you'd have to ask a lawyer... it's simply a possibility. An 
explicit "the GPL ends here --><--, as far as we're concerned" 
removes any doubt.

The GPL possibly can't reach across 'strong' interfaces anyway, but 
you'd need a barister and possibly a judge and jury to know for sure 
;)
