It'd be cool if trying to send attachments through webmail optionally
stripped the attachments from the mail, and placed them on a webserver,
and just emailed the recipients a URL. Much neater. And, if you recorded
the size & mdd5sum of each attachment, you could just have one copy of
each attachment - smashing for the next time some viral marketing expert
is the source of some 20MB animation that everyone mails to their mates.
Of course, then you are back to the old "modifying email" problem. You
could bounce it, with a message of "attachments larger than 2MB will be
refused unless you put 'strip, and leave online for XX days' in the
message somewhere.
