Reminds me of a problem I had with Mandrake and automount of Joliet
CD-ROMs. The quirks would vary, but this sounds like one of them (I also
got incomplete and corrupt file listings).

Try unmounting/remounting the device manually. ISTR that working for
CD-ROMs.
