I think there are many opportunities in that direction to compare
oneself to a standard and if necessary learn how to fake it in
industry and or open source projects. The media would be CVs,
interviews and Q&A session involving one on one dialogs (or just
having a lot of peoples CVs on line). Much more that just the once a
week job posting.
In terms of learning from the best a VNC recording of a poor, average,
good, best linux developer, would be a simple worthy project evern if
the full recording was summarised by someone with less stature (and
more time) with the full 'source' recording available in case people
wanted to check that out correct or write there own lessons to be
learned, What programs were used what techniques (God forbid: what
patterns/anti patterns).
I have read http://www.lpi.org/en/lpic.html
These are two obvious ideas.
-Careers section may be Irish dominated and
-Recording a persons day to learn the good and the bad is likely to be generic,
but I have not seen it done though admittedly I have not looked too hard.
[Careers and interviewing is on my mind as my boss is interviewing
people for the position above me. [Some of the more competant people
have unix/linux experience.]]
