Hi,
I choose laptops on the same principle. If I have some heavy
computation to be done, I have big chunky servers and workstations to do
that kind of thing - but when I'm moving about I want something that has
great battery life and is small, light and portable.
But there's also a huge market for people who want a computer but don't
want to allocate space in their house for it. They want one computer to
do everything for them - and in this case the desktop replacement type
laptop is perfect for them. Sometimes I envy the fact that I have to be
a little bit careful to make sure I have my data with me on the road -
whereas they only have one machine, so it's a not brainer. (Of course, I
have the decided advantage that my data exists in at least 2
geographically disparate places at any given time.) Swings - roundabouts
- - etc.
In short, vive la difference. The more choice we have as computer
users, the better it is.
If anyone knows how I can get my hands on one of those $100 laptops
without having to order 10 million of the things, let me know ;)
Best regards,
-->Gar
