[ILUG] Can rpm install have debug flag attached?

trying to find out why "vsf object" breaks samba.

So it's inbuilt into src.rpm,

so I just need to rpmbuild --rebuild samba.xxxxxx.src.rpm, as FC3 wasn't 
playing nice with the samba.xxxx.tar.gz.
