You can have 64 bit with dell.. the xeons do it now..

As for powerpc, I guess you're stuck with IBM or the Apple Xserve (I 
think they run linux).

You might find that a single opteron isn't too bad, it's the ability to 
be dual that sends the price sky rocketing.

The other option would be to hunt an alpha on ebay.
