Yes - I know why they do it. Doesn't stop it being annoying though :-(

I do. The Windows box was running ME, which I thought might support my stick, but
I eventually had to kill the new hardware detected process which had stopped
responding. So the above advice should be adjusted to "always carry a USB thumbdrive
AND a DSL CD" . Unfortunately, my bag with a selection of bootable media had been
left in the office because I didn't feel like lugging it to dinner and back again
in the morning.
