The IP functionality of most phones costing 10--20 euro is somewhat 
limited.

You CAN get devices which enable you to connect 1 or 2 analog phones to 
a SIP server and indeed, I'm probably going to sign up for Blueface and 
get such a device (Linksys PAP2) for home use. The current question 
concerns an office deployment of Asterisk.
