Yeah, your dead right, when I think about it, debian/ubuntu would likely
have been as fast on that box. It was probably down to Redhat being a bit
bloaty what with its installing tons of things I never asked for.
For example, why does Redhat install things like pcmcia on servers?
Debian does not, it just installs what you ask for. I never appreciated
that in the past. I have come to believe that Debian is the best distro
around.
On an OT note, I got my R6 back today with a lovely new motor.
Anyone want to buy a "gentoo accellerated" vespa px200 ? Its deadly,
excellent fueling (try's not to split sides lauging), great fuel economy
(that bit is true), excellent brakes - as long as you realise its a "put
put" and not a real bike. Mail me off list if your interested.
