The kid has a point :) He just doesn't know how to express himself properly.

He meant that this is not because you mess with flags that you will
end up with a buggy and crashing system. Gentoo is not all about
optimisations, you can set USE flags as well to specify what you want
built in (gtk, ipv6, etc ...) so your packages then are the way you
like them.
