i didn't feel i needed to justify my choice of distribution
but i was pointing out that he was talking rubbish

for what it is worth, the three "leading" distributions that i come across in
my travels are fedora, debian and ubuntu

ubuntu is a modern debian (which would appear to be imploding)
the number of problems that users (on the mailing lists that i frequent) of
fedora have (albeit new users of linux) is staggering.

gentoo is the only distribution that i have found which doesn't subject the
user to dependency hell while allowing them o remain current. i've only come
unstuck once and a bit of googling soon fixed that.
