So you're going to point out the flaws in each, for the purpose of  
comparison with Gentoo.  Okay, that's a good tactic.

An unsubstantiated assertion that Debian is "imploding" is all it  
takes to dismiss both Ubuntu and Debian?

I have never argued in favour of Fedora.  What mailing lists do you  
frequent?
