I run the same - this post is slightly OT; however, I noticed that 
things like mplayer run on primary display only (expected) usually ... 
however the odd time I have seen mplayer run on the secondry display 
without problems.

I assume I'm missing something or have some odd configuration, but 
should it be possible to use either to play files ? (in clone mode, not 
Xinerama, since one monitor is 17", other is 19").
