EVERY service contract has a get out of jail free card in there for the
provider, whether it be something as simple as an innocuous little
"depending on parts availability". The ONLY kind of maintenance
contract which really guarantees a rapid response is the kind where the
vendor has his people on your site, and spares on your site too. This,
as you can imagine, doesn't come cheap, so the policy of keeping a
spare yourself, provided you have good swapout procedures and the the
staff to implement them, can often be a very good policy.
