what happens if you do a boot single at the boot prompt?

if not i'd hunt down a copy of redhat 4.2/sparc and boot off of that.
you'll have virtual consoles once it gets past the point where it finds
the media (nfs or ftp) for the install.  alt-f2 will get you a root
shell and you should be able to mount the rootfs and edit /etc/passwd.

you could also google for various terms like: solaris, sparc, rescue,
tftp, fsck, linux, single, passwd, password, root and boot.
