[ILUG] two mailman questions: HTML and attachments

 after ranting and raving and very exasperated pleading,
 I've finally managed to convince the company I currently
 work for to at least try using an (internal) mailing list.

 the admin set up a mailman list with web access, very
 much like ILUG.  good.  however, two problems are now
 apparent:

 1st, some people insist on e-mailing in HTML (*bad*
     HTML at that, as it often (but not always) comes
     form some M$ junkware).  for some of them, I see
     essentially no hope of training/convincing to not
     send HTML-mail.  unfortunately, the web archive,
     when read with a browser, shows the raw HMTL,
     making those messages hard to read.

 2nd, attachments are sent.  a variety of different
     types, including (unfortunately) M$ worthless.
     in the web archive, these show up as gibberish
     (e.g., unintelligible base64 encodings).

 so two, possibly related, questions:

  + is there any way to set/adjust things so that HTML
    e-mail renders more sensibly when viewed via the
    web archive?

  + and is there any way to set/adjust things so that
    the attachments are at least downloadable?
    ( I used to run an internal e-list at a different
     company, and used MHonArch (or however it's spelt),
     which would nicely save the attachments.  they could
     be downloaded, and the ones in more agreeable formats
     could often be viewed from the web browser.  that is
     the sort of thing I am after. )

 I myself have no experience with mailman et.al.,
 other than as a subscriber to several e-lists (such
 as ILUG) which use it.   and I won't be making any
 changes myself; instead someone who doesn't speak
 too good Inglish and is more comfortable with
 Windross will be doing it --- assuming he can
 first be convinced there is a (solvable) problem.
