if i'm on a train w/o a net connection i can't run the following
commands on my source tree:
cvs diff
cvs status
cvs log
from looking at subversion (the one distributed scm that i've looked at),
it appears that i can do those things. that's a good thing.
and what it also looks like is if i do an "svn ci" that command will
have to go talk to the central repository - just like cvs ci has too.
which is also fine.
the point you make about two developers editing the same file is made
all the time about cvs because it lacks locking. the answer is the same:
developers should communicate with each other.
