Ive had a quick look over Eckel's book and it looks to be very good.  
The only issue that I have with the download of the third edition is 
that it comes as a series of HTML pages rather than a single document 
therefore to be fully useful it will all need "sticthed" together in an 
Open Office Document......grrr.  But I guess you cant have everything 
for nothing!
