[ILUG] MySQL & Staroffice/Openoffice

Hi folks,
              I am trying to use a mysql database as the data source for 
Staroffice 7 & Openoffice. I downloaded mysql-connector-java-3.1.7 & 
installed it & set up Staroffice & openoffice to use it to connect to the 
mysql database. This allowes Staroffice & OPenoffice to connect to the 
database & see the tables but wont allow me to write to or modify the 
database in any way. Whether i connect as the mysql admin. or an ordinary 
user makes no difference even though i can work at the command line when 
logged in to the mysql database as admin. or an ordinary user. Using the 
mysql GRANT command i have granted all privileges to an ordinary user 
followed by FLUSH PRIVILEGES. any help would be appreciated.
