[ILUG] Compiling new kernel

Sounds like a bit of info is missing

Normally you would find your files in /usr/src/linux. However that is often 
just a link to the real directory which which on my machine here is

/usr/src/linux-2.4.21-0.13mdk/

So 

cd /usr/src
ls

and see what you have. Then link it to /usr/src/linux, change into that 
directory and carry on with your config.

Make sure you have the right instructions. Its different for 2.4 and 2.6. 
There are lots of good kernel compilation guides. I followed the one in the 
Gentoo handbook....mainly because it was already printed out.
