I wonder if a GUI would be any help?
What I like about shorewall is that it comes with 3 or 4 sample settings,
one or other of which will suit 95% of home users, I imagine.
I find iptables more or less unintelligible -
the only thing to be said for it is it is slightly more intelligible
than its predecessor, ipchains.
I certainly wouldn't like to set up a firewall
based on my understanding of iptables,
and I wouldn't really trust my answers to a GUI, either.
