What? Since when did this thread have anything to do with his software work?
This thread has been about the response that ESR wrote to Microsoft. The
reason that this response merited any discussion at all was ESR's level of
self-aggrandizement and dare I say it, arrogance, in his response to MS.
While I hold no love for Microsoft, this response was completely
inappropriate and uncalled for. I admire ESR for his dedication to OSS, and
his accomplishments, both in software development and in OSS evangelization.
I don't admire:
1. His tendency to stridently mix politics with engineering..
2. His tendency to dismiss people who don't agree with him
3. His tendency to be incredibly rude and arrogant, especially to new people
who tend to get scared off by his e-mail flames.
That's the topic of this thread...
