Hi Frank,

I use realplayer 10 for linux with no problems (works for RTE and BBC audio 
and video streams). AFAIK you should be able to use the fully open source 
Helix player on which the RealPlayer product is based. I don't actually 
know how the two differ but you can download both at https://player.helixcommunity.
org/.
