Folks,

If I were to propose doing a series of workshops on Open Source
technologies, can you all give me some thoughts on what sort of things you'd
like to see included?

I have several topics in mind...

1. Developing software with Open source tools and programming languages
A. Sourceforge
B. Using Python
C. Using Perl
D. Using Ruby
E. Developing software with JBoss
F The open source mentality (Release early, release often)
1. The cathedral and the bazaar. Different approaches in software
management.

2. Open Source content management systems
A. Zope/Plone/CPS
B. Mambo
C. Drupal
D. (Some Java based CMS here).

3. Implementing enterprise applications with OSS.
A. Implementing LDAP
B. Implementing SAMBA
C. Implementing Mail using Postfix.
D. Front end mail solutions, ex. Squirrelmail

4. OSS for decision makers
A. The myth of TCO
B. OSS support systems
C. How to go about migrating from Closed off the shelf (COTS) systems to OSS

These are some half-formed thoughts on the sort of topics to cover...
Also, I'd be interested in any of you on the list would be interested in
helping me present this. Note that presenters would get *paid* for doing
this.

One last thought: Please, no flamewars on this technology or that, or other
religiosity. While it's sometimes fun to watch this in ILUG, I'd rather keep
this thread as flame-free as possible.

Thanks,

Braun
