My point is that technically both ideas are quite different, and a
subject like that could lead us to a mistaken idea about what the
problem is about. We shouldn't waste more time or bandwith discussing
about that, anyway.

Your gateaway can be not very busy, but you need a CONSTANT stream of
data to the clients. Have you tried configured your client for using

I use a D-Link DWL-122, but i don't recommend it. The device is not
too bad, but the driver (or driver + OS) is still quite bad. A sample:
if USB is removed (Wireless device or the USB hub where it is plugged)
the whole USB (hotplug?) goes down. And you cannot plug your keyboard
or mouse back and keep working. You have to reboot (shut it down /
power on). I dunno if you can solve the issue restarting daemons using
ssh, that computer is almost isolated and nothing really important is
stored there,so reboot is good enough for me.
