[ILUG] Booting Dapper after install

Hi guys,

I had an old machine running Debian with software raid over a 5 Gig and 
a 6 Gig drive (yes go on, laugh).
I went to upgrade to Dapper Server. The install went fine but when I 
took out the CD and went to reboot into the system I get the following:

 Filesystem type unknown , partition type 0xfd
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.15-server root=/dev/md1 ro quiet splash
Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition

Just to rule out the (unlikely) possibility of the partitions/raid 
created with Debian not being compatible with Dapper I deleted and 
recreated them a few times while re-installing Dapper.
Results: no change.

My suspicions were that one of the drives died while running Debian and 
I didn't notice due to the raid. However, they both seem to be 
functioning fine.
Can anyone enlighten me here.
