Hi all,
I'm just back to linux after a couple of years absence, and boy am i
feeling rusty.
I'm trying to build an email server, and authenticate users against
ldap. I've chosen to run with courier (don't need advise on this, heh,
its my choice and I'm sticking to it for this exercise), and am trying
to build courier-authlib with ldap support, but because the distro I
chose, SuSE 10.0 x64 didn't install the headers for OpenLdap 2.2.27 so
the authlib make doesn't automatically compile in ldap support.
So i pulled down openldap 2.3.24 sources, ./configure, make depend,
make, make test and make install, figuring there'd be some added
educational and skills wirebrushing value in doing an openldap data
migration.
Without doing much more, I hit rcldap start and up it came.... but
when I check the date on /usr/lib/openldap/slapd it has a datestamp
Sept 9 2005
So how do I know which version of openldap I'm actually running?? I
would have thought I'd have ended up with a new slapd binary?
And since this sucker has retained my schemas and acl's etc, have I
just been deprived of the opportunity to learn how to migrate my ldap?
which is sweet in a non educational kinda way.
Any thoughts appreciated!
Aine.
