Just to be clear, we are talking about SSH right? The ssh which
supports several public key mechs (not all of which involve PKI,
particularly not the commonly used ssh keys (ssh-dss, ssh-rsa) - see
the 'ssh-keygen' manual page?

Neat.
PKI though for some reason seems to be difficult to deploy. It (or
more likely, the tools) seem to have significant operational
deployment overheads, or the perception of anyway.
