While some of the thread was entertaining, some of the ideas about 
crypto and the security business were quaint. The security business does 
not build on success. Rather it builds on technology and cryptography 
that has not been broken yet - something very different.

Ross Anderson's book on Security Engineering is now online - it might be 
of interest to some.
