I was under the impression that 7000 & 7200 were similar, and
that, as you say, the 7200 has a smaller die and more ram. In
fact, the 7000 is an similar 'undergrown' version of the r128. X
selects the driver, and seems to select the radeon driver. Each
one up the line does have a few extra instructions.
