[ILUG] Badblocks -v- Raid, meaningful results?

Is it meaningful to run badblocks on a raid array? I was going to do
badblocks -nsv on a server to see if I could track down a diskio
problem that crashed a JVM, but I'm wondering if that is going to give
me any kind of meaninful results.

For those interested, the raid is a single 80GB array, implemented
with two 80GB ide disks mirrored on an Adaptec 2400A hardware raid.
