Hi All,
Thanks for all the responses.
Ok, so PPPoE, is PPP over Ethernet, which is the base medium.
I had some other issues with the router, the wireless side has been
dropping for no reason. To resolve this I decided to make use of my old
wireless router, a netgear model which supports PPPoE.
So I changing the Eircom supplied ADSL modem / wireless to use a bridged
mode. I then enabled PPPoE on the netgear.
This seems to have done the trick! - My Debian box now seems to have
better access.
>From the emails I received from you guys I'm assuming that the root
cause of the original slowness was the difference in DNS settings.
Thanks again for you help !
Chris.
