sudo -s is more sane then sudo su -, but essentially it is the same 
thing. Even more sane is sudo -i according to general wisdom in #ubuntu 
and places like that, and the man page is kind about it as well :-)

With regard to the version numbers so far there are:
4.10, 5.04, 5.10,
and soon (20th April) 6.04 should be with us. Release number is based 
upon year/month.

Warty Warthog, Hoary Hedgehog, Breezy Badger, and currently Dapper Drake 
are the development names.

There is actually no release with a "name" although the wiki may suggest 
it. In the last few days the numbering system and naming system have 
come up for scrutiny on one of the ubuntu mailing lists.
