  | *Hi *
  | **
  | *i am using a 256 kbps shared broadband line and using an ADSL router to
  | connect thru PPoE*
  | *i used an online tool which gives me this reading the site to test is :
  | **

actually, that's the site which does the test.
the site to test — also known as the site under
test or being testing — is yer own site.

  |[ ... ]
  | I* would like to know how does this tool test my connection bandwidth [ ... ]

the page initially downloaded is of a known size,
consisting mostly of a large(!) HTML <!-- comment -->
filled with (binary) rubbish (and GPL-licensed!).
the page also contains a short script which measures
how long it takes to download in wall-clock time.
from there, it's rather obvious what it should be
doing (I didn't bother to check this final part).

I presume other people on the list can tell you
how to do this better, why it may not mean much
of anything, and answer yer other questions.

  | incase i plan to use a dedicated one to one 256kbps line *
  | *How sure i am that the total bandwidth is dedicated to me *
  | **

in yer case, it may just be counting the number of `*'s.
is there any reason you start and end each line with `*'?

cheers!
