They are basically 32-bit processors with 64-bit hair extentions.
Thats why they can _natively_ run 32-bit code.
So its perfectly fine to run in either 32 or 64 bit mode.
the processors are EM64T, not AMD64. It may or may not work, I cannot
remember for sure.
I know that RHEL has AMD64, as well as EM64T & Itanic versions of the
distro.
p.s.: You should be able to download a 64-bit version of SLES9 from
novell - for free (AFAIK)
