[ILUG] Ubuntu regular or Kubuntu?

If you you install ubuntu and and decide you want to install kubuntu,
its a good idea to remove all remnants of gnome. For example, if you
do the upgrade while running gnome, then it will use GDM as the
desktop manager, even when your running kde. I have found this can
cause some instability. Make sure you also install kdm, reboot, select
kde as your desktop, and then remove GDM.

It does come down to preference but KDE is better than gnome, so I am
sure you will make the right choice(by installing kubuntu).
