Never had a problem myself, quite happily installed kubuntu from an ubuntu
CD and vice-versa - perhaps there were problems back with 4.10 and 5.04,
but not recently. I had problems putting 6.10 on my laptop (ubuntu or
kubuntu) so I am using 6.06 LTS, which seems to be all-round more stable.

I'm not a big fellow, so hiding behind me won't give you much protection.
