 - The dapper LTS has five year support guaranteed which some people want.
   Debian don't guarantee it, though the time between their releases is
   often such as to unintentionally end up giving you about 5 years
   support.

 - you need a recent kernel (hardware support) and don't want to run debian
   testing or a backport

 - you need PHP5, MySQL5, or something like that which is unavailable in
   debian sarge and you want to stick to supported security-patched stuff,
   ie not debian testing and not backports.

 - you're a crazy person who likes to upgrade your server every 6 months.
