It debends what do you use it for i1Mbps gives you something like 1mb/s 
transfer rate and 54 would give you 5mb/s (it is counted in both directions) 
if you do not copy huger amount of data over this link there is no point of 
upgrading. B and G use same security model WPA2 is secure.
