[ILUG] One dual core or two single core

Hi there !

I have to run an e-commerce / booking system based on Ruby on Rails
and MySQL and OpenVPN.

A managed hosting provider offered me two solutions:

1) One dual core AMD opteron 1212 at 2.0GHz
2) Two single core AMD opteron 246 at 2.0 GHz

The difference is about 70 pounds per month. I read an article on the
IBM's tech forum that a dual core is 60% faster and one single at
double speed. But, in my case the two processors have the same speed
so I was thinking that dual core should be not so different than the
due single core.

Technically I think that for the kernel there should be no difference
about the tasks' scheduler so I would go for the single core. Any
advice about this?
