For a home user, be aware that disk manufacturers often fix/refurbish 
warranty-exchanged disks (and then re-use them to replace 
warranty-exchange disks :) ). You might not be worried about the disk 
manufacturer, but what about the /next/ person who gets your old 
disk?

(That said, I've never seen a disk have data on it coming from 
manufacturer, and I've had refurbs at least twice I think - but I 
havn't always checked..)
