Hi Again!
I've been asked to set up a house-wide media system (audio and video) for a
customer. It needs to have audio and video streaming throughout the house
with the potential for home automation. It needs to be easy to use and the
idea of having tablet-like controllers sounds great too. Also, crucially it
needs to be idiot-proof, expandable, future-proof and standards based (to
assist expandability and future proofing)
During my research I've tried out plutohome as well as various linux based
media centers (mythtv, freevo etc). They are all great for hobbyists like us
how love to tinker but fail well short of ease of use, reliability and
general consistency, if you know what I mean ;)
I've sort of gone halfway and decided on using apple hardware as the
platform but I'd much prefer to go the open source route. Has anyone any
experience with making open source media systems more reliable / idiot proof
etc?
Thanks Again,
Patrick
